Reimagining the timeless Arab hospitality tradition through architectural stillness, monolithic sandstone volumes, and tactile acoustic craftsmanship.
The Monolithic Majlis Suite was designed as an executive diplomatic salon for private hosting in Abu Dhabi. Breaking with ornate regional historicism, Arkan introduced a pure tectonic language rooted in the weight and permanence of desert geology.
The continuous perimeter seating is carved directly from monolithic blocks of honed sandstone, cushioned with full-grain nubuck leather and anchored by bespoke bronze side consoles. The acoustic ceiling features custom micro-slatted smoked oak panels, creating exceptional intimacy during high-level diplomatic dialogue.
Water features integrated into travertine floor trenches introduce gentle acoustic resonance, while concealed indirect luminaires cast grazing light across the hand-chiseled stone wall surfaces.
